Happy Holidays

Objective journalism and an opinion column are about as similar as the Bible and Playboy magazine.

- Walter Cronkite

I feel that way when it comes to journalism and blogging.
So, take away "opinion column" and put in "blogging" and there you go.

Hope everyone had happy holidays.
"A Trashy Tabloid Analysis" should be posted tonight.

Sources for articles: Hard News By Nikky Raney

When writing a hard news piece (for print or web) it seems as though quite a few news outlets are publishing and producing stories with few sources.

Hard news is timely and usually also involves proximity. Some examples include fires, murders, business, politics, international affairs, etc.

With hard news the inverted pyramid structure (more about that here) is very useful.

Hard news generally will involve the reporter going out and obtaining interviews first hand. Although the news is timely and up-to-date that does not excuse laziness with sources. More and more there are news outlets serving stories that could easily be confused as blog posts - meaning the sources used are usually aggregated from other news sources. With blogging that is fine - bloggers are not held to the same standards as journalists.

With a hard news story there should always be a first hand interview included with someone directly involved with the story.

For example: If the reporter was assigned to cover and report about a local drug bust a source that is essential to the story would be a police officer or any other authority involved (it will later be discussed how to deal with those type of stories in terms of semantics). Another person who would be ideal to interview would be neighbors or friends that would be willing to go on record. If there is a family member that would be willing to contribute to the story that would be great.

Interviewing the police officer is essential, because that is where the information that will be in the lead is obtained. Finding out the who, what, where and when can all be done by an interview with the authority who was at the scene.

In some scenarios secondary sources are also good to add to go along with the first hand sources. Secondary sources would include information gathered via another news source or outlet that the reporter did not go out and directly get first hand (like citing another news source or web site).

The next blog posts will go into detail for the sources essential to features, columns, reviews, editorials, etc.

For the record, blog posts will most likely include side commentary and opinions from the blogger as well as news obtained from secondary sources (other web sites), and in some cases (like this entry) the information provided comes directly from the blogger.

Andrea's Blog + Personal Updates

Yesterday I set Andrea up with a blog.

When she is proficient and comfortable with blogging I hope to set her up to blog for Zennie62.com.
She is new at blogging, but she has a lot to say.
I will be uploading our videos soon.

I will be returning to school soon so more articles and less blog posts.
And also more blog posts about The Future of Journalism.

I recently did an interview with the upcoming rap group WE.G.I.
The article will be posted as soon as I finish a final interview with the female member of the group.

Lots of good things coming up.
I have been busy with personal dilemmas and issues, and I have rarely been at the computer. I haven't been posting many blog posts, and I definitely have not been tweeting as much. The world outside of the internet has been quite eventful - and I hope that it dies down and I can happily blog, write articles, and do what I do. When I go back to school I will dedicate specific time so that I will be blogging every day of the week multiple times, and working on articles. I am figuring out mobile blogging. So, good things to come.

She doesn't really blog about anything specific.
Our next vlogs deal with Chatroulette, FixItPro(Billy Mays product that we used and it works! photo taken from AsSeenOnTV ), Jessi Slaughter, Shane Dawson, Hotforwords, Cazwell video, and other things.

I also have a blog post planned about Newsweek. Since there is a new editor and it has been bought. I follow Steve Tuttle of Newsweek on Twitter, and he follows me back so I will see if he can provide me with any additional information aside from what he has already told me (Steve you're great, I appreciate that you take the time to message me back & that you are following me).

So, that's all for now.

P.S. For those who aren't familiar with the difference between blogging and journalism. Blog posts are allowed to have opinions and be from first person stand points. Journalism and articles (the ones that I write) are all done objectively and show both sides of the story. If you read my beginning blog posts I was scared to assert my opinion into the posts, but I was helped by my professor that blogs are allowing for opinion. I love articles and being objective more than I like blogging - so trust me, there will be many more articles to come and you can see the true journalist that I am.

I have a secret crush on Anderson Cooper. So I'll leave you with this quote:

"I think it's a good thing that there are bloggers out there watching very closely and holding people accountable. Everyone in the news should be able to hold up to that kind of scrutiny. I'm for as much transparency in the newsgathering process as possible." -- Anderson Cooper.

Interview DOs and DON'Ts explained by Nikky Raney

After viewing the video of Journalism 101: Interview DOs and DON'Ts there may be some who are looking for further explanation. This is the blog post where the dos and don'ts are better explained. Please understand these are all relating to interviews for a print or web story. Interviews for broadcast are similar, but there are more restrictions.

1) Do not ask yes or no questions.

Don't ask questions that will only result in one word answers. Granted there are some instances where there needs to be background information obtained that may only require a one word answer, but it is always preferable that the questions asked require a longer answer. The purpose of an interview is to obtain quotes for the article. In addition to quotes any facts or statements included within the article can be attributed to the source in instances where the source has given information.

2) Don't ask misleading questions.

Misleading questions are when the question is looking for a specific answer that could possibly make the source say something negative or something that could come off as negative. An example would be when interviewing someone who is pro-abortion and asking, "What is the joy of an abortion like for one who has one?" The person is coming off saying that an abortion is a joyous experience, or asking a presidential candidate, "What about his plan is most unnecessary?" The quotes given can be misconstrued and the person can come off looking bad.

3) Don't rely on a voice recorder.

Yes, it's good to have a voice recorder to play back and make sure the quotes were correct. It also saves time on fact checking so instead of needing to call up the person and go over the quotes - the voice recorder is proof. Taking notes is necessary to write down the key points and quickly jot down quotes. The recording can be fast forwarded to the specific part so that the quote can be accurate. Without taking notes one would need to sit and listen to the entire recording again and write things down - where as taking notes saves from that hassle. It also shows the person that they are actually being listened to and that specific details are being noted.

4) Don't ask irrelevant questions.

This may seem obvious, but many reporters do this. Interviewing a source for an article is just that - interviewing for the article. Taking the time out of the day to make time for an interview with a reporter is something that should be appreciated. Do not waste the person's time rambling or asking things that aren't of any relation to the article. Getting some background information on the person is one thing, but asking personal questions that have no relation to the article is just a waste of time.

5) Don't interrupt.

So sometimes there are questions that need to be asked and limited time to ask them, but even when the source goes off on a tangent talking about things that have no relevance to the article and could not be used as quotes for the article do not interrupt. Interrupting is rude and when someone is taking time out of the day to squeeze in an interview respect is necessary. Especially when a time comes in the future when the source will need to be contacted again. Of course keep some questions prepared, but make sure to have follow up questions in your mind while the person is speaking. Never interrupt, because the irrelevant rambling could sometimes lead to a better quote than could be acquired from any question asked. A subject that was not thought of before could be touched upon, and there's also a lot of information that could be obtained.

6) Ending the interview by asking for additional information.

Make sure the source is given the opportunity to add any additional information that he or she finds important. There may be some things that he or she wanted to discuss, but the questions asked were never directed toward the topic. Asking at the end of the interview shows caring and gives the source a chance to open up freely and talk about things that may not have been covered during the interview. This is where the best quotes will come from.

7) Ask questions that only that person can answer.

Broad questions that could be answered by anyone aren't worth it. Ask questions that are personal and specific to the source. Ask questions that could not be answered by anyone other than that source.

That's all for now - there are more things to touch on, but the most important are there. More explanation will be posted within future blog posts.

"When I interview people, and they give me an immediate answer, they're often not thinking. So I'm silent. I wait. Because they think they have to keep answering. And it's the second train of thought that's the better answer." -- Robin Leach

Raney Update

The Journalism 101 video with Josh about interviews will be up when the editing is finished.

This blog will be updated more frequently once the school year starts up again & more journalism exposure and opportunities become available. This summer was a way to try and break into the world of blogging, because I over work myself when it comes to journalism which is bad for my health. Neglecting sleep, meals, etc just so I can edit, fact check, interview, etc. I am one of those journalists that is completely devoted.

So, this summer I have focused more on blogging. Blogging is less work, and is more relaxing - but it is only a quick fix. When I am back at school and I am given the okay from authorities that I am in better health & that they believe I will be able to balance my journalism with the rest of my life I will be posting articles, interviews, etc. The first posts on the blog during my Web Reporting course were very on cue.

So, thanks for sticking around for the ride.
Zennie62.com has been a great way for me to practice my blogging, and I will continue to do the blogs. Blogging is a good skill for journalists to learn. And for so long I was just a journalist & refused to do anything but journalism. It's good to finally break out and try something new.

Lindsay Lohan is not dead: Rumor started from Wikipedia post By: Nikky Raney

Lindsay Lohan has been the victim of the most recent celebrity death rumor. While there have been two recent deaths within these past few days: Lindsay Lohan is not one of them.

There have been so many blog posts, tweets, videos and e-mails sent "confirming" that Lindsay Lohan is dead and urging all bloggers to post about it. The numerous e-mails from readers asking to post about Lindsay Lohan's death was astounding, because why would readers advocate covering a story that had no evidence.

(Screenshot of Wikipedia post taken from Earsucker.com)

So why cover it if it isn't true? There are enough blogs that have actually "exclusively" reported that Lindsay Lohan is in fact dead, that maybe a couple posts stating that this is a rumor will slip in there. Rechecking from minute to minute it seems like some blogs are DELETING the "exclusive" posts about her UNTRUE death. There are over twelve questions on Yahoo answers asking if Lindsay Lohan is really dead.

Now, without any interviews directly with Lindsay Lohan there is no direct proof that these are false rumors. How do these rumors begin? Well, sources are citing WIKIPEDIA for the finding out Lindsay Lohan's death.

(Screenshot from July 14 at 10:00 am. Google search: "Lindsay Lohan dead.")

Wikipedia also claimed the Rush Limbaugh was dead a while back. Wikipedia should not be used as a source to find complete accurate information. Wikipedia is not considered a credible or reliable source, and to be honest I see more magazines using Twitter as a credible source. There are quotes in Newsweek taken from tweets, and tweets are proving to be more reliable than Wikipedia.

What's even worse? People are using tweets from a FAKE Kim Kardashian Twitter account to justify this - the account doesn't even spell "Kardashian" correctly. Fact-checking and researching before clicking that "PUBLISH POST" button is important.

Never will Wikipedia be cited within a blog post from me - except in circumstances like this where Wikipedia is being exposed for its unreliability. So many readers use Wikipedia as a source for information, and so many believe that Wikipedia is truly reliable. Although there may be studies that claim Wikipedia is just as accurate as other web encyclopedias - the celebrity death rumors and inaccuracies that Wikipedia posts are more frequently discussed and misinforming.

Looks like The Future of Journalism is going to be expecting a post about CREDIBLE SOURCES and how to do research and find credible sources. This is crucial to journalism AND blogging, because bloggers become "citizen journalists," and people actually use blogs (and even Wikipedia or Twitter) as their [only] way to obtain news on a daily basis.

Maybe this post took over an hour to write, but that's due to the fact checking, looking for other sources to confirm, and making sure to get everything straight. It doesn't matter if this isn't the FIRST post confirming Wikipedia was wrong - it matters that this post is accurate and provides the reader with the information needed from reliable sources.

Journalism 101 : RECAP of Blogger vs Journalist

The previous post included the video for Journalism 101: Blogger vs. Journalist.

In case the video didn't make the points clear enough here is what was learned:

  • Journalists can also double as bloggers, but a blogger isn't automatically a journalist.
  • Journalists go out and get their own interviews for articles, but when a journalist is blogging interviews are not required
  • Journalists must be objective when covering features or hard news stories. When a journalist is blogging it may be treated like an editorial: no interviews, opinion backed up by lots of secondary research and a strong argument.
  • Bloggers can include opinions within blog posts, journalists can include opinions when blogging as a blogger.
  • Objectivity is required for articles, but blog posts do not require complete objectivity.
  • Bloggers use articles as a basis for their blog posts, and are able to use articles from news sources in order to back up their arguments.
  • Articles are objective and get both parts of an argument.
My next BLOG post will go more in depth to the differences of blogging and being a journalist. I had thought the differences were quite apparent, but some people are going off on me and calling me a bad JOURNALIST for showing opinions in my BLOGS. Just because I'm a JOURNALIST doesn't mean I can't be a BLOGGER.

There's a good article to read specifically about this from Nieman Reports called "When Journalists Blog: How it changes what they do."

I would like to share a special note of encouragement that I received from my friend Kristen. Check out her blog 365 Brand New Days:

Lindsay Lohan's manicure gets its own blog entry from CNN. --Nikky Raney

Lindsay Lohan's manicure was
given its own blog entry on CNN's Marquee Blog.

(Photo taken from CNN's blog post)

There's something about blogging that some people may not realize. Blogging for the sake of blogging is not worthwhile. CNN out of all news sources should have saved this blog entry for one of the gossip blogs (The Superficial perhaps, one of my favorites).

Yes, Lohan's manicure said "F*** U" on the middle finger, but does it require an entire blog post?

This blog post is a reminder to all that before you post a blog entry make sure that the topic has relevance. Writing a blog post for the sake of writing a blog post doesn't show the readers that there's a thought process behind the blogging.

If I was to blog every idea that popped into my head I would have more blog posts than any other blog out there. So, CNN let's make sure the next celebrity blog post has more depth to it.

I write a blog post about Lindsay Lohan's 90 day jail sentence, and CNN write a blog post about the manicure Lohan wore to court.

P.S. TMZ also reported about Lohan's manicure, because that's what TMZ does.

" Life is full of risks anyway, why not take them?" -- Lindsay Lohan

Why not take them? Because you'll end up in jail.

My next blog post will be about watermarking images & giving credit for photos.
I will also post the JOURNALISM 101 video.

Inverted Pyramid -- Nikky Raney

The "Inverted Pyramid" will always be important to journalism.

The inverted pyramid isn't just for the journalism world - the inverted pyramid can be applied to any piece of writing.

Where citizen journalists and bloggers get stuck - journalists get through just fine. Anyone can go to an event and write about it. Anyone can just sit in front of a computer screen and type away at the keyboard, add some hyperlinks, and click post - but it takes a lot more than just typing to produce something that is worth reading. A lot of what is posted on the web and marked as "news" is not WORTH reading, but it will be read anyway. Usually those posts get more criticism and aren't taken seriously, but the posts/blogs/articles/etc. that are worth reading use the inverted pyramid structure as a technique to keep the reader engaged.

The inverted pyramid was taught to me when I was 15-years-old.It may seem "old-fashioned," but the posts that I enjoy reading are the posts that follow this structure:

Okay Nikky, we get that it's important - but what IS it?

The inverted pyramid is a metaphor that journalists use to illustrate the placing of the most important information first within a text.

Anytime I write an article my first paragraph is usually ONE sentence. ONE sentence that includes "who, what, where, when, how."

When I was 15-years-old learning this made me confused, because I thought all paragraphs had to have at least three sentences. I thought introductions always needed to be long, but I realized that by keeping the introduction contained into ONE sentence that includes WHO, WHAT, WHERE, WHEN, HOW, it makes the person reading the piece more informed and more likely to continue to read on. If the person does not read on - at least the most important information was obtained.

"The inverted pyramid puts the most newsworthy information at the top, and then the remaining information follows in order of importance, with the least important at the bottom...readers can leave the story at any point and understand it, even if they don't have all the details."

So the first paragraph should be a sentence that sums up the entire piece of writing. That may seem hard if you haven't written it yet; some people wait to write their beginning paragraph (it's also called a LEAD) until the end. I always write my lead first, because even when I don't know what the whole article will look like the lead will keep me on track.

The next paragraph will usually back up the first.

The next ones usually include quotes, and other secondary research.

Then the final paragraph is usually short & sweet - it can also sum up the entire post again, but more often than not it gives a follow-up. When someone reads an entire piece of writing to the end - you wan't them to keep reading. When you end with a follow-up ending, the person is more likely to come back / check back to see the next post!

I have read through an article and wondered, "Okay what's the point?" If the point is in the beginning then there is less confusion.

Okay, so why does this matter?

People have short attention spans, and want to spend as little time as possible reading an article/story/etc. I mean, there are times when it doesn't matter how long it takes to read something, but generally the quicker the read the better (even Twitter understands with the 140-word limit).

"Many readers are impatient and want stories to get to the point immediately. In fast-breaking news situations, when events and circumstances may change rapidly, the pyramid allows the news writer to rewrite the top of the story continually, keeping it up-to-date." -- Chip Scanlan

Now, there are journalists/people who will argue that the inverted pyramid is not all that great. Those who argue against the inverted pyramid are usually the ones struggling to use it. It may sound easy, but for some it is not.

The inverted pyramid is most popularly used for newspaper articles, and it makes sense that I follow it - since I am a print/web journalist who has primarily written for newspapers. I am trying to better incorporate them into blog posts, because I have just recently been able to put my personality into my blog posts -- hell, saying "I" in posts is new to me.

----

I know that recently my posts are not what most expect from me, and I apologize for getting carried away. I was letting things get to my head, and that is why I retired from that topic with an objective post. I am a journalist who blogs, and I am also a blogger who reports. I hope that my Journalism 101 vlogs will be able to inspire others. Keep reading my posts at Zennie62.com - I can assure you the more experience I obtain from writing at Zennie62.com, the better prepared I will be for the world of journalism as a whole. I have had to re-evaluate the way I have been writing, and I have to remember to stay grounded. It's easy to get carried away and start to get personal with an objective piece. I am 20, and I still have time to learn, and thankfully I nip that power trip in the bud. I've moved on to bigger and better things, and The Future of Journalism is in good hands. I put my pride in-check, and I'm ready to acquaint myself with humility.

Journalism 101 with Nikky Raney

Journalism 101 was a Youtube series I was going to start a few years ago, but I didn't have a very good camera or editing program. Having a Macbook Pro has really changed things for me, and I think I can resurrect that old series. I am sure it will start off slow, but I am really going to keep at this thing. I plan to do a couple vlogs a week. I have been doing a lot more promotion & part of what I am doing with Zennie involves Youtube. I am hoping to become a Youtube partner (like Zennie62's Youtube)! If I can get a partnership and if I can get some more money I will be able to blog more often. I have a lot of things I have to do in my REAL life, and I wish I was updating THIS blog more frequently, but since I will need to be updating Youtube more frequently I want this blog to benefit from it. So, Journalism 101 will be little journalism tips from me.

Wish me luck on becoming a Youtube Partner. My application is currently being processed.

Trust me, I have high hopes for The Future Of Journalism.
I just have to get the rest of my life in check & work on other things in order to make sure this blog gets all the attention it deserves. I have many blog entries I want to sit down and write, but when I blog on here I really put a lot of time into each blog post (at least 5 hours...), and I take it seriously. So, I hope that my Journalism 101 vlogs can keep everyone entertained while I work on other projects before I can finally sit back (unstressed) and blog freely on NikkyRaney.com :)

Citizen Journalism BRIEF + HST

I was talking on the phone with Zennie last night & he thinks positively of the rise of citizen journalists. The only reason I disagree with that is the same reason I don't think that a blogger is a journalist. I would prefer the term to be "citizen blogger" if anything.

Poynter Online has an interesting read.

Go read that.

I'll elaborate on this at a later time. I apologize for not spending as much time with The Future of Journalism. I assure you I have bigger and better things in store. I am going to put to rest the "WORD OF THE WEEK," and resurrect "JOURNALISM 101."

You'll see what I mean in a few minutes.

I'm currently reading Hey Rube by Hunter S. Thompson. I have already read this book, but I like reading it multiple times.
I would like to share with you the list of Hunter S. Thompson books I own.
The first HST book I ever read was Fear and Loathing in America, which was given to me from my Journalism advisor, Dan Singer, my senior year of high school. He told me that he picked that book for me for a specific reason. He put a bookmark in a specific place and said that the particular passage/letter where the bookmark was represented part of why that book was perfect for me. He took a lot of time to think of books for The Tide's executive staff (I was Managing Editor). I can say that today I do understand why he chose that book specifically for me. I reference and read through Fear and Loathing in America on a daily basis - I always have that book close (along with my AP STYLE GUIDEBOOK).
Anyway, the list of all HST books I own:

Hey Rube
Better Than Sex
Fear and Loathing in America
Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas
Generation of Swine
Hell's Angels
Rum Diary
The Great Shark Hunt
Fear and Loathing on the Campaign Trail '72.
Songs of the Doomed
The Proud Highway

Tila Tequila: Not Worth It Anymore. -- Nikky Raney

Tila Tequila is a lost cause. No matter how objective or supportive a blog entry is written - when Tila Tequila is called out for a lie she attacks in the only way she knows how. It's like middle school all over again - she gets others to hate and attack those she feels threatened by. She uses name-calling and cyber-bullying to make herself look "cool." The Tila Army sticks up for Tila like a middle school best friend. The Tila Army enjoys being apart of a celebrity fanbase with a celebrity who constantly keeps in touch; knowing that getting on Tila's bad side is not something that is favorable.

For a 28-year-old woman to blog hateful remarks to a 20-year-old who never posted a direct insult or accusation is a sign of something much more than cyber-bullying. I wrote objectively about Tila multiple times, because I thought if Tila ever read one of my posts she would be taken aback and really think about what was going on. To prove her lies was something that I wanted to do, and it was something that I did. Throughout this entire venture I have never published a blog entry with anything hateful toward Tila, because I don't hate Miss Tila. I actually feel bad for her, and because of that I am no longer blogging about her. I can honestly say that I had the best intentions with every blog post.

It didn't matter if I wasn't posting on a hate-site. Tila felt threatened that someone other than a "hater" was blogging about her and writing things that forced her to look at her lies.

Tweets are archived by the library of Congress. Facebook statuses, blog posts, tweets, etc. can be used in a court of law & someone can be sued do to what he or she publishes/posts on any of the social networking platforms. Everyone is held accountable for what is posted. Does anyone remember the woman who tweeted about her apartment being moldy & then was SUED.

So, here's the e-mail where I request an interview with Miss Tila. I originally sent it through Youtube, but then I e-mail it to support@misstilaomg.com:

So, here is the e-mail that I received:

If that's too small for you to read here is the text. I can assure you it is unaltered

(Have fun reading it out loud):

From: SUPPORT <support@misstilaomg.com>
Date: Sun, Jun 27, 2010 at 6:24 AM
Subject: Re: Interview Request
To: Nikky Raney <
nikkyraney@nikkyraney.com>

Hello,

We here at the OMG staff does not condone hatred nor spam. We try to deliver fun news stories for our readers and as bloggers, we add our own signature style to thinks to separate us from the rest of the gossip blog world. The only reason why your comments got banned is because our site works with another company that automatically deletes comments that has too many profanities in them, and we also block anyone that posts links because we consider that spam or advertise bots.

Now if you go on Miss Tila's site, the staff, including herself, just blogs about celebrities and make it fun for the readers. No different that any other celebrity gossip blogger who does way worse in regards to talking shit about celebrities. However, if you truly are a nice girl like you claim, why do you join the rest of the hate comments and it is contradicting for you to say that. Imagine being in Miss Tila's spot just for one day. When she's not blogging about celebrity news, all of her other blogs are either informative or positive. Plus, the fact that you amongst those "rotspot" and "resistance" people constantly claims that she "LIES" about everything. You claim to be a journalist, which you are far from it because real journalists would actually do REAL research about such topics if they were interested and sometimes real journalists can take as long as a few months, to contact people, CREDIBLE people to find out what's true and what's not. If you go on these Tila Hate sites, you can see how much they waste their days and nights trying to bring her down, even dedicated a hate site all about her alone is pretty sad.

So unless people have actual evidence from Miss Tila's doctor's and hospital bills for her past miscarriage and her artificial insemination, and tweets and copying and pasting are not valid. If you bring those materials in the court of law, it would be laughable, as Miss Tila has gone through a lot, and it is nobody's business to "PROVE" to anyone that she never lied about any of the stuff that the haters claim she lies about. I know this because I am a longtime friend of hers and I blog for her. I a telling you this because I am sick of how harshly the haters bash on her, just for their own entertainment. As a matter of fact, I am the one who took her to the doctor when she was artificially inseminated. I also picked her up from the hospital when she fell and hit her head and caused her to mis-carry her baby. Miss Tila has been through a lot and does not need more people like you to mock her. The haters don't know her. They weren't there with her like I was when I had to hold her from her crying so badly when she lost the baby. I even cried and I am sick of people talking bad about her. They don't know her and neither do you. So for you to say you're not a "HATER" well you definitely are one when you make hate blogs about miss tila. And you haters act as though you guys are so perfect? As though anything miss tila does actually ruins peoples lives? No. If I were here I would have done more, and much worse things then tweeting you when she finally stood up for herself! I give miss Tila props for keeping her head high no matter how much of these same haters coming to HER blog everyday just to talk shit about her. It's redundant and how dare you have the audacity to try to contact her after what you did. You are far worse off then Miss Tila. I would say it's best to do what you claim as not being a hater and stop making hate blogs about her or "calling her out on her lies" sorry to break it to you, but Miss Tila never lied so you and the hate sites you talk to are just two-faced mean people. Please don't contact us again trying to get in touch with miss Tila when you actually can see your own actions of trying to harm a woman who never did anything to you to begin with. Peace...........

Anyway, this e-mail is ridiculous. I never blogged her miscarriages or her artificial inseminations, but the e-mail goes into details about both aforementioned topics. So, Tila obviously has never read any of my blog posts.

Staff? Honestly. I strongly believe that Tila Tequila wrote that e-mail. If she didn't, why wouldn't the e-mail close with some professional signature of some sort. The multiple periods are not very professional - then again that entire e-mail looks like it was written by a 12-year-old.

The e-mail speaks for itself, and I think that I could have just posted that e-mail as my final blog post.

As for my friendship with the "hater" blogs. I post things objectively for those who do not visit the "hater" sites. I no longer visit MissTilaOMG.com. Now, the "hater" blogs are run by PEOPLE who are actually very nice. My friendship with them has nothing to do with my opinion of Miss Tila. And come tomorrow when I am rid of all Tequila residue my friends at those blogs will still be keeping track of all the lies & deceit.

Now, as for positivity. The #TILAARMY has always been about positivity. Then why is it okay for someone who never attacked Tila to be called a fatty? I am called "PIGGY RAINEY" (she spelled my name wrong), and I am put in a sentence with "PIGGY PEREZ." Is this a joke? Perez actually said mean things to Tila, I never said ANYTHING mean in ANY of my blog posts. And anything that may SEEM mean is backed up with facts & links to posts. My last blog entry about her was strictly her TWEETS. Which she CAN be held accountable for in a court of law.

Defamation is something that Tila & her army need to learn. You cannot maliciously attack someone and try to ruin reputations without consequences. I do not plan to sue Miss TIla, but there is proof that Tila defamed me maliciously to try to ruin my reputation & in some ways she DID damage my reputation, but she more than anything promoted me.

Tila blogged about being on TMZ's blogroll. She even tweeted to me saying that I wasn't on TMZ's blogroll -- Zennie62.com is on TMZ's blogroll. Tila Tequila's blog is not on TMZ's blogroll. I don't know why it matters who is on TMZ's blogroll, because there are many other blogrolls out there. After the things TMZ has written about Miss Tila I am surprised she would WANT to be on its blogroll.

The Tila Army consists mostly of teenagers. TIla's #1 fan, Mittiee, is 16-years-old. I was 16 four years ago, and I remember that I was also a fan of Tila Tequila at that age. I was watching A Shot at Love, and I thought she was great. However, a lot has happened since then. I am concerned that these fans are going down the wrong path. Alina K Ring was once a Tila supporter, and she is also a teenager. Tila is undoubtedly known for her "sex" factor. She posts half naked photos, NAKED photos, has naked videos online (I'd rather not post the links, but they are out there. Not sex tapes, but other videos), and has performed at strip clubs. Hell, Tila also did strip teases on USTREAM for her fans & got naked. I saw the USTREAM videos, and I saw her fall backwards in the chair while wearing her lingerie. My mother walked by while I watched USTREAM and Tila was naked on webcam talking to her fans. My mom was outraged. When I told my mother that the 28-year-old woman on my screen claimed to be an Angel of God & claimed to be quite a religious young woman my mother was in disbelief. I then played one of Tila's songs, and my mom made me turn it off because of the profanity.

I am worried about the teenagers in the Tila Army. These boys and girls see Tila as a role model. Tila admittedly jokes about suicide, openly discusses her sexuality, posts nude photos, dresses inappropriately, and uses lots of profanity. If Tila Tequila walked into church & performed one of her songs she would probably be escorted out. Teenagers are impressionable, and it is people like Tila that make me wish parents watched their kids' internet activity. Yeah, it might be cool that a celebrity you like actually acknowledges your presence, but it is not okay to talk about an Ambien addiction or post half naked youtube videos regularly. Most of the Tila Army is not even old enough to look through Playboy or go to a strip club, but they can see Playboy photos online and watch Tila at the strip club on Youtube. What kind of Mogul is she?

Is it okay for a 28-year-old to be doing that? I truly hope the "TILA ARMY" reads this with an un-bias mindset.

And, if the adoption claims are true - no one is going to let Tila have children in her care. I know a lot about adoption, because a few of my cousins from the Philippines had to be adopted by other family members so that they could come to America. Adoptions take a long time, and there are many background checks to make sure that the child will be in a safe environment. Tila Tequila's lifestyle is not a safe or stable environment, and I don't think anyone can argue me on that point.

I thought Tila never lied though?

You'd think with all the blog posts I have done about her she would have accepted my interview request.

If I ever attacked her maliciously, called her names, or treated her unkindly then please let me know.

When you read those blog posts & realize I was never mean to Miss Tila then I hope that the "Tila Army" and maybe even Miss Tila can give me a sincere apology for the rude comments & unjustified attacks. If after reading my blog posts about Tila you think I deserve being called "Piggy Raney," and deserve all the hateful comments from Tila -- then I will be surprised. I think that I deserve an apology, but it takes a lot for some people to swallow their pride. I apologize for anything I said that may have been perceived as hateful, but I can assure you my intentions were always to remain objective & to do my duty as a journalist and blogger to report & research to set things straight.

The Blog Post Miss Tila wrote about being on TMZ's blogroll & one of the posts where she talks about me. I must be a celebrity if I am on Tila's Celebrity Gossip Blog. She calls me Piggy Raney..again:

obviously no one can read that, so click for a larger photo.

To keep up with Tila Tequila you keep visiting my friends:

The difference between these people are they don't hate her for superficial reasons. They hate her for all the terrible things she has been caught doing & her lack of holding herself accountable or admitting to lies.

EXCLUSIVE: Tila's Army is going to WAR.

Now, on that note. Since Miss Tila has already associated me with Piggy Perez, maybe it's time for me to see what makes he and I so alike. I already wrote an editorial on why we're different.

P.S. Did anyone CATCH that Tila's Staff E-mail says that she got a miscarriage due to hitting her head. She was tweeting right after she hit her head & basically was tweeting before she called the ambulance. Seriously? Have fun with this one.

Disclaimer: I, Nikky Raney, have absolutely nothing personally against Tila Tequila. Although she has personally attacked me through her blog posts and her tweets - I am a journalist and blogger who takes that with a grain of salt & does not return that anger or resentment. This is a job and a service that I do to inform others of the scandal/lies/etc. from public figures. Again, I have nothing against Tila Tequila. I am not a hater. I have attempted to get in touch with her to get her perspective and her opinion. AGAIN, I have nothing against her personally. I do this objectively in a professional manner, it's not personal it's about the story itself. I hope that I have made myself clear. My blog posts will prove for that I have never LIED about Miss Tila or called her ANY rude names. I have never used anything other than evidence from her own tweets, blogposts, and interviews to state my case. The attacks Tila has made against me and calling me "Piggy Raney" was unjust, and although she did that I still have nothing against her. She may try to attack and bring me down, but at the end of the day this is my job. And I am mature enough that to retaliate against someone whose way of responding is by name-calling would be futile.
